For the Chevy II (or nova) I would need to build it from the ground up, finish the 400 I'm building (220cc heads and nicely cammed)... add a nice paint job (red)... nice interior, etc... I would guess it's about a year, yeand a half project...

    or

Just buy a 96 or 97 LT1 Camaro, slap in some headers and boltons, add a nice sound system and forget about project cars...?

This is a Chevy II btw (it would be a hardtop):

I dunno if that 400 will fit unless you do some work on the front chassis.

Sure it'll fit. It depends on the headers you choose if you have to get rid of the heater core. You'll also have to get a different oil pan because of the centerlink.

Chevy II are hot right now so the prices have gone up. Stay away from a 1965 unless it has the complete front end trim inplace. The trim rings around the head lights bring $200-250 by them selfs !!! Most other years are easier to find parts for.

The 64-67 had a small block as an option so any 1st gen (283-400) SBC is a bolt in, (with the proper parts.)
62-63 only had 4 and 6 bangers but every thing under the hood is almost the same so a SBC fits in them just as easy as a latter year.
Even if the car is / was a 4/ 6 banger the swap parts are rather cheap.TH350 trannys are a bolt in and there are kits for th200-th700

You best bet is to find a project that some one has started or finished and pick it up with or with out a drive line. Starting with a basket case will drive you into a poor house.

There is a huge after market for these cars, complete bolt in front ends using up dated parts and frame rail kits to install monster meat out back

    I have a 1965 Nova with a BB 427. I get plenty of looks and performance is a given.[IMG]
