So for the last 3 weeks I have been researching new TV's. I found that the maintanence associated with projectors (annual tuning, bulbs, ect) makes the cost VS value unrealistic for me. Also burn-in from playing video games is an issue. PLasma, DLP, LCD are nice but way outa my price range

So for picture quality I have narrowed my choice down to a 36" HDTV Flatscreen. My previous TV was a SONY 32" Vega and because of the problems I had with it I'm staying away from Sony.

    My two choices are

    Toshiba 36hf73 $1400
    [IMG]

    or

    Phillips 36PT842H $1360

if you have anyother suggestions with similar price/features/quality I'd apreciate that too

if I can get at least 6 reply's with pertinent feedback I'll Pm free Pr0n to the posters

have you thought of a cheap viewsonic projector that's HD Ready. They are around $1500. I use them at my job and they look great on a nice screen.

The screen would add additional cost to the setup, and I like to watch TV during the day. Projectors are onlysuitable for dark rooms

i would go with the philips, i just recently got the philips model you were looking at except its the 27 in size. I have had it for a few days and i am happy with my purchase. i really can't test out the hdtv since i didn't get a box from comcast, but the dvds look excellent with this set. to get a better opinion, try amazon.com and see if there are any user reviews for those sets. i know the 30" hdtv by philips had good reviews, that's why i bought the 27"

Good choice! I sell TVs at Best Buy and, of all the digital projos, I'd say that's definitely among the best. We have a Sony 46" right beside that one, and customers always go with the Sony just because it has the "Sony" name on it  It's $100 more and for nothing. In my opinion, the picture qualities are identical, but the Toshiba can hold up better contrast than the Sony. I, personally, would have gone with Mitsubishi as my first choice but Toshiba was definitely a good choice. Enjoy! :bigthumb:

without a doubt, for the price + features and performance. The Zenith C32V37. It has a built in tuner, DVI inputs + optical audio outputs. It is crazy loaded and looks great. I got mine for about $700 because I had the hookup at Best Buy. 4 months of operation, trouble free. Buy It!
