On the 13th I'll have the last portion of my down payment (3k) on a car. I've been looking into tons of cars, but I simply can't decide what I want to do!

So OT, I'm gonna ask YOU to help me choose!

First, my budget is $13000 total (before down payment, not including finance, but IS including tax/title/whatever fees). It's not a super strict budget, but I'd like to stick to it unless theres something perfect just out of reach ;)

I'm a 20 year old guy. I'm looking for something 04 to 08 between 15-45k miles. Engine comes first. Has to look good... I prefer coupes, but I'm open everything I guess. I'd just like to hear why!

I can find good deals on the vehicle suggested, so as long as it meets that small criteria....

SOOOO, what do you think OT? :) Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Why do you say GTO?

Only a few in my areas in the price range, but definitely a solid choice. :)

    RX8

Nowhere near the legacy of the 7, but still a good car in its own right.

Quick, RWD, handles well, room for 2 adults in the back seat, comfortable, decent looks, RX Legacy, if you drive it right the engine will be good to you.

That sounds about right. Room for improvement though. People stating 16mpg and under are either racing everywhere or trying to drive it like a piston engine. Even the automatics have you cruising at 4krpm. The very same people say it has no pep and dont understand why you use dino oil.

Also keep in mind that box engines (Subi's) are very reliable.

Dare I say it since I was just knocking the NA mod motors in another thread, the Mach 1's can be fun. Gears and a shot of gas and they're FAST!

    Just another option.

Driving like a grandma is what makes the engine suck at MPG. :mamoru:

Gradual acceleration, but in the higher RPM's is best.

    true. 94-01 acura integra?

I'm 5'11", the integra was roomy enough for me, and has fold down back seats giving you plenty of cargo space when needed.

well within your price range and looks good imo.

    LS1 GTO is a 2004, the 2005-2006 GTOs had LS2's with 400hp/400torque.
    LS1 had 350HP/350TQ.

    i love my gto

LS1/2 is a type of engine that is in cars like GTOs and older Camaros, etc.

After looking at the GTO compared to other options, I think it actually may be the best choice :)

But damn these are hard to find.

GTO's are nice. Cheap 04's aren't hard to find. I was looking for a decently priced 05-06 for a while but recently called it quits to try and put a little money back. Maybe use it all as down payment in the future. Congrats on your building up savings for down payment on a nice daily/fun car.
