personally im an AMD & Asus freak.

    this is what i suggest:

    mobo: ASUS A7N8x-DX nForce2-ST, AGP8x, A133, S-ATA, i1394,Dual-DDR400, Audio,Dual-Lan, 6USB2
    cpu: AMD XP2500+ CPU s462/128k+512K .13 (333FSB; 1.833ghz) 32bit (barton core)
    video card: ASUS G4 Ti4200-8X-Deluxe 128M DDR DV-i, TV-o, AGP8x (9280S)
    hard drive: Maxtor 120.G SerialATA150 6Y120M0
    ram: 2x 256M DDR-PC3500: 400mhz Kingston KHX3500 (use 2 for the DUAL ram option)

that shouldnt cost u more then 1100$ cnd! (so like 750us!!)

    CPU & mobo = :bigthumb:

I'd go ahead and get a DirectX 9 video card though - maybe a Radeon 9500 Pro or a GeForce FX 5600

I think Maxtors are pieces of shit, but that's just my opinion :wiggle:

I went with the MSI KT4 Ultra ARU in December 02...i think they have some new baddass mobo out, but they are always up on technology...my KT4 has serial ATA slots on it and came with 2 serial ATA wires, but there isn't anything even out yet that i know of that can use serial ATA...also onboard audio, 5.1 channel sound, onboard 10/100/1000 ethernet, 6 USB2 ports, and its *red* :bigok:

the gf fx 5600's are overrated. i would stick with a gf4 ti4200 for price. best bang for your buck.

if your an uber gamer then go ati 9800 pro or 9700 all in wonder.

on the hdd its who do u like best. ive never had a maxtor die on me, so thats why i use them.
