Ive been lifting for almost 3 years, but this year i have lost my drive at the gym. I still go a few times a week, but all of my lifts are drastically lower then they were, say a year ago, and i have no stamina, i have to take long breaks and i rarely can finish my sets, im usually 3-4 reps short. The strange thing is that my weight is still the same, and i don't really look any smaller, i am just a shitload weaker. In fact, i have lower body fat than i used to to from playing basketball regularly, but my strength and stamina has gone down the shitter. What is going on with me?

take a break. set some new goals. find a routine and stick with it. start upping your vitamin intake, maybe mess around with some creatine. maybe start taking some energy supplements

already taking creatine, but i suck at it and keep forgetting to take it daily. I only remember to take it on days i lift, which is only 2-3 days a week out of 7 if im lucky. My routine now is definately good, ive gained 40lbs of muscle on it over 3 years, but ive been at this pleatuau for almost 6 months now. Ive been hovering around 168-172 lbs forever. :wtc:

BTW Energy supplements do not work right for me. Ive taken an ECA stack, and since i have ADHD (don't laugh, this is 100% true) any stimulant i take acts as a "calm down" pill for me for some reason and it turns me into a zombie. I actually had zero drive at the gym while taking ECA, and i hated it with a passion.

yes, they do amp me up, but i get all the same side effects i got when i took ritalin (nasuea, no appetite, zombie like state etc), so i try to avoid stimulants. I took clen a while back, that was good stuff though, much easier on me than the ECA was. It was shitty clen though. :o

Here it goes. I have 3 days, and for most excercises (unless otherwise stated) i do 3 sets consisting of 8 reps, than 6, then 5, and after each set i increase weight 5-10lbs.

Day 1 - Chest and Bi

    Bench press barbell
    standing barbell curl
    Incline dumbell bench
    2 sets sitting dumbell curl
    weighted dips
    2 sets sitting hammer curls

    Day 2 - Legs/shoulders

    Sqauts
    sitting dumbell military press
    stiff leg deadlifts
    standing arm raises
standing calf lifts (using a squat bar, not machine)

    Day 3 - Back/tris

    Deadlifts
    close grip bench
    pullups
    skull krushers
    bent dumbell rows

And thats it. I use my judgement and try to go to failure on safe excercises (obviously not on deadlifts or squats). I am usually dead and on the verge of passing out when im done lifting (which means i did enough i guess?)

you might be overtraining. take a solid week off. Get a new routine... IMO there is nothing wrong with your current routine, but you gotta mix it up every now and then. keep the high weight, low reps and see what happens

This is me coming off of a good 2 week break. :hs: I tried my friend's routine (5 sets of 10 for everything) and i just gave up after 2 days becuase i couldn't do anymore after the 2nd set, and then after the first excercise i was practically done already. What kind of routine should i do? For the first 2 years i was doing chest/tri, back/bi, and like 6 months ago i switched it to chest/bi, back/tri.

if you're still willing to use caffeine, use it with l-theanine

"acting antagonistically against the paralysis induced by caffeine"

l-theanine prevents the negative side effects of caffeine, so using both together should = win :p

whenever i used it, i still had the increase in energy/activeness, but without the headaches or zombie-ish side effects afterwards

Definately switch your routine to back/bis and chest/tris. Makes more sense.

Try switching up to different exercises as well. There's a ton of things you can do, especially with your upper body.

switch to something higher in frequency and intensity instead of working a bodypart just once per week

it's true...caffeine will work on your sympathetic system stimuatling release of norepinephrine (adrenaline); the opposite will stimualte your parasympathetic, stimulating release of acetylcholine. the two have opposite effects, so you cant have the benefits of one while having the benefits of the other.

you've lost your motovation to lift. i wouldnt try and cure it with supplements. either man up and lift as often as you should, or just keep straggeling along.

I really don't think ive lost my motivition to lift (at least mentall). I still love going to the gym, and I still want to put on much more weight. Its just the physicial muscle stamina is not there anymore, even though i am happy being at the gym and i love going.

Sounds mental to me for sure.

You have to want to lift, I know if I go in on days I'm not 100% commited, I can't do the weight.
