i dont have my laptop with me but for the imac u just click on the time, open date and time, and go to the clock tab.

you should be able to move it there. if not try dragging the time to where u want it ??

go into system prefrences > then you will end up having to play around between (energy saver > options > show in menu bar) (internet connect > airport > show in menu bar) ( date and time > show date and time) and ( sound > show in menu bar).

play around showing and hiding these four options until you have them back in order...

this should work eventually. or maybe rebooting would work - and be easier.

as I'm sure you went and tried it, did you also happen to notice that you can remove the icons by dragging them out of the menu bar? Just like the dock icons.
