Looking for a new sub for my vehicle. Right now I have 2 12" MTX Thunder 6000. The main reason I am looking for something new is I want a smaller box. I was thinking of a Kicker 10L7 or possibly JL 10w6 but that is a little out of my price range. Any ideas on any other single speaker ideas that would perform as well if not better than the MTXs while still keeping a small form?

not many 10"s will have the output of 2 12"s... it would have to be a high end expensive woofer (w7/idmax).

Why would you say that? Lots of 10" subs use the same motor as a 12". The Digital Designs DD3510 would be an awesome replacement if you got the power.

think about what you just said... he's thinking about going from a pair of 12"s, to just a single 10".

:werd: based solely on surface area, you would need a damn efficient 10" driver with lots more power to get what you had from two decent 12" drivers.

I was afraid this might be the answer. I have looked at the ficaraudio before and almost bought one but decided to wait. I might have to bite the bullet and give it a shot. One reason I was thinking of kicker though was my buddy gets kicker and polk for cost.

I will admit, personally I think they sound funny when they hit. Its not a very clean/tight sound imo.

I wish I had a way of testing these things out cuz I don't really think my 2 12s are loud at all, other people get in my truck and are amazed. My buddy used to have 1 10L7 in a ported box in his civic hatch and you could barely breath.

Fi isn’t bad stuff, and triple stack magnets don’t mean much, but ngsm likes to ride bandwagons to please the direct buy gods because he has power with noobs on his nazi forum.

It was never mentioned what amp the original poster has. Or if it was I missed it. That would have a lot of merit in what driver I would recommend. If you have a 400w amp and want to use a driver like the Q that ngsm mentioned to near its full potential you would need a new amp. For the price of the driver and a new amp you could get a w7 10 and wouldn’t really know any different unless your ears don’t agree with w7's like mine don’t. However, you would have a driver that looks better and is possibly flatter with little output loss comparatively. You would also have a well recognized driver.

Give us what amp you have and how much room you are willing to give up and we will be able to give a much more accurate recommendation as to what you may like.
