I've been looking for one for the better part of 2 years and haven't been able to settle on a design :hs:

    requirements:

    1. must be wood, metal or a combination of the two. no glass.

    2. $500>

    3. must be mid-century modern or later. I hate old furniture.

    4. combinations of side tables or ottomans acceptable

    5. don't bother looking at Crate&Barrel, Pottery Barn, West Elm, CB2, or EQ3. I've already exhausted those places.

    Go :eek3:

go to Room&Board and look at the Amery coffee table. Raw steel frame and lots of table top options. You can configure it in almost any size. 54x18x14 might be a tad too long, but I could make it work :hs:

this with a different top color. Probably walnut. I like some of the stone finishes but it'd double the price :sad2:

54" is not really that long. That one just seems long because it's only 14" high and 18" wide which is pretty damn narrow and short. I live in a very narrow SF studio, so for my purposes, it actually fits the room pretty nicely. I'd be all over it if it came with concrete or a bronze patina top :sad2:

I'm hoping that my next move is into a place that I'll buy. In which case, chances are that I'll get rid of everything and start over again.

I've got a good apartment in a great location at a very reasonable (in SF anyway) rent :hs:

We got a white shag rug at www.urbanbarn.com (they don't show the rugs online though). You custom order it there, tons of colour choices and combination options (but we went for plain white). For a 6'/8' rug it was $800
