help bulking

    I'm currently at about 181 pounds and want to get up into the 190's, 5' 11'' 22 y/o. I've been eating about 2700 calories per day, working out 5 days a week with about maybe 2 days of light walking. Do you think this is a good plan or should I up the calories a little? Thanks for the help.

    Read the BB thread, Pur a basic diet that should work for you to atleast start from and get the macros right.

    has your weight remained unchanged for awhile? are you currently gaining on 2700? either way, sounds like you simply want to eat more.

    sorry i should say my diet as well, it's pretty clean, 1 cheat meal per week.

    Breakfast:
    Oatmeal
    6 egg whites, 1 egg

    meal 2:
    2 la tortilla factory lo carb
    chicken breast
    apple

    meal 3:
    waximaize
    2 scoops ON

    meal 4:
    sweet potato
    1 can tuna
    half ounce almonds

    meal 5:
    6 egg whites 3 eggs

    meal 6:
    cottage cheese
    almonds

    all adds up to about 2700, with a 40/40/20 split

    yeah I've been lifting heavy lately and the weight seems to be rising very slowly, probably should just add some more calories, but don't know what to, maybe 3000.

    other opinions on what? would you like us to take guesses on how your body responds to training and excess calories? are you gaining weight w/the current set up? if so, your cals are high enough. Guess what it means if you're not gaining weight.

    I know each person is unique but I just wanted other peoples input, I suppose it is as simple as that though.

    it truly is. results come so slow that it's easy to question yourself and search for shortcuts, but the key is consistency.

    eat about 500 more good calories a day.

    Either stick to 2700 hundred and wait 2 wks to weigh yourself, assess if the gains have been sufficient and redecide

    -or-

    Bump to 3k, wait a month to weigh yourself (b/c at this cal count you know you'll be gaining, thus its safe to wait an entire month to weigh in) and decide if this is the amount for you.

    Basically don't weigh yourself everyday. Make a plan, give it at least 2 wks, then check progress. This way you can see if its actually working or not without stressing, or making knee jerk adjustments every day or every other day, in effect ruining your ability to isolate variables.

    check your weight on a week to week basis and adjust your calorie intake accordingly. You should be gaining about 1-2 lbs per week.
