I scanned my computer today and AVG said it found a virus, it was in the Java folder, its like the Java installer or something like that, im kinda thinking that its not really a virus, but anyways, it wont fix it, it says it finds a virus, then it just says that it didnt fix it, although i have "automatically heal viruses" on in the preferences, heres a screen shot

Ive had Java installed since i reformatted my computer, and now all of a sudden Java is considered a virus? its pretty strange, i think it may just be the AVG reading it wrong or something. Anyone else got any clues?

AVG uses heuristics, which is an advanced detection process for scanning executables for patterns that LOOK like viruses. The disadvantage is there's a false positive every now and then, but the advantage is it helps antivirus products catch viruses that they don't explicitly know about yet.

That's one of the reasons I run it on my machine...That and the fact that the overhead is non-existant (Not that it matters so much with an SMP setup :) )

Main reason why I stopped using AVG is because it would pick up all the 'false positives' Got annoying after awhile.
