plugs make me want to shoot myself after about 2 hours. my ears just get sore. I still use them because they are the best cheap thing out there, but man I wish there was a better alternative.

wrong. Buy one pair of ear muffs for 15-20 bucks that last forever, or spend 5 bucks every couple of months or less?

I always use cheap disposable earplugs. I hate using ear muffs, they bother me.

depends what I am shooting, how long I am shooting, and where I am shooting

I usually wear my Peltor Tac 6...with the rifle I double up.

They get rid of almost all noise. I stick them in extra deep, its just the whole making my head heavier and knowing that they are on me that I dont like about ear muffs.

I must have a fucked up shaped head or something because cheap muffs don't block shit from my ears.

P_T totally IMs me all the time hoping my e-ballin', e-shot callin' will rub off on him.

Seriously, Sordins are VERY VERY nice.

www.triadtactical.com has a great price. If you plan on training, you need to get these or Peltor Comtacs. I like Sordins because they attenuate (read : quiet) rather than clip out like the Comtacs. On a firing line, that will fuck you up.

I double bag with Sordins and some Howard Leight earplugs. The NRR of Sordins is 21 I believe, which is okay, I guess, but if you wear eyepro, the temples break the seal and it's conjectured that you lose 5NRR for this. Also, two hearing protections do not stack (this is not Everquest), and it's said the earplugs add ABOUT 5 NRR, so, you make up what you lose for looking HSLD in your M-Frames.
