Basicly I have a "desk job" and I sit 12 hours a day so I have packed on the weight :( And it doesn't help that were always eating fast food.

So I am going to start running and trying to eat better. I really don't know much about nutrition and what I should be eating. What kind of meals can I eat and snacks? Also what kind of portions?

I have a 9 hour desk job, and I bring my food to work with me. Every day I bring a container with lunch (chicken and veggies), a can of tuna, and a turkey and ham on wheat sandwich for my meals throughout the day. I used to snack on yogurt and baby carrots too. Not much you can say that isn't just a lame excuse not to eat right at work.

I tried cottage cheese and really hate it. Sometimes I force it down with some fruit but I've just been eating tuna instead.

Im not using my job as an excuse. High stress job and limited options on things to eat make it hard. I can't leave for so im here for 12 hours in the same room.

sitting on your ass all day is no excuse. some healthy on the go foods are jerky, nuts, peanut butter, sardines, canned tuna, canned salmon, etc. or take time during the week to prepare foods that are healthy.

    cheese is fine, in moderation

on the plus, it's very low in carbs (virtually zero) and has some protein
on the negative, it's got a good amount of fat, too, which increases the caloric content greatly
