What can I do to speed up the healing process?

Yes, I have already gone to a doc but I am looking for other opinions.

I've broken 7 bones. You just have to let them heal and actually take it easy or it'll just take longer.

Keep taking your multi's and throw in some Citracal, or some other good calcium supplement. Any kind of smoking actually slows down your healing, especially cigarettes. Eat properly, take it easy, and don't expect to be anywhere close to being ready for physical exertion for a minimum of 3-4 months.

Your pretty much fucked. I had a plate and 7 screws put in mine 3 months ago. I am finally able to lift pain free now and have been able to for the past 3 weeks or so. I ate as much dairy/things high in calcium as I could while taking a calcium suppliment. I reccomend straps for any lifting you do between now and when you are completely healed as you won't put much tension on the bone by using them. You can also do some light upper body work depeding on where you break is, mine was closer to the knuckle, so I was about to rotate my hand and place the bar pretty much on the meat of my thumb/palm and was able to do light bench and dumbell exercises. No hangcleans and heavy deads though. However, I was allowed a little bit more mobility since I was plated(wasn't supposed to lift, but if it doesn't hurt, why not), if I wasn't my hand would have been completely restrained for 8 weeks according to the doc.

PS- Punch something softer next time ;)

    How'd you break it?

I've heard of people doing qigong and healing broken bones faster, but it's probably not true.

i don't know supplements or anything, but seriously. let it heal to the point that you can't feel any pain in it, and then give it another month or two. i made the mistake of being pissed off when i broke my big toe, and not being able to squat on it. so i went and did moderate squats in my boot cast. in the long run, it was dumb because now i know for a fact my toe didn't heal correctly and i have much more limited ROM in the joint

Qigong ("chi-gong"). Chi is the Chinese word for ki, or prana, or life force or whatever you want to call it. Qigong is the study of developing your qi for health or martial applications.

Think of like Tai Chi Chuan. Now imagine, if you can, a version of it that ISN'T all watered down, granolafied, and done by hippies, and the practicioners are all in very good health.

Here is a good starting place with a basic qigong exercise.

I'm not making any claims. I just remember hearing about a guy who claims that a broken bone in his hand/wrist or something healed very quickly, which he attributed to his daily qigong practice.

Anyway, I broke my middle finger once and it sucked. I hope you heal quickly.
