Someone on surplusrifle kindly sent me Go, No Go, and Field gauges to check the headspacing on my Mauser. The rifle has been refinished (pretty good job) and the rifling is strong, Since it came to me with a broken firing pin (seller had no idea, it's an older import) I figured it might not have been fired in ages.

Anyway, I put a 98 firing pin and spring in it, so there should be no FTFs. The Turkish spring appeared to be original and the 98 spring was much stronger.

Here's the headspacing results from last night. Chamber swalled Go and No Go gauges, but stopped at what I hope is a safe position on the Field.

Here it is with the stripped bolt (no pin, cocking mechanism, or extractor) and the Field gauge chambered

Here it is with an empty chamber.
