    Oh. You know they're out of focus... Well, you can try to stop waving your camera around in people's faces and pushing the shutter release. You can think about your background when framing the shot. You can try to get at least some light in the eyes so they don't look dead. You can try giving the people some breathing room in the frame. You can try catching people candidly instead of having them freeze up for the photo... And you can try cleaning you sensor. Wont help you take better photos, but it'd still be nice.

    I've cleaned my sensor recently.

    If that's dirt on his sensor, then it's REALY dirty. From his exif, that shot was done at 1.8.

    1.Focus.
    2. Bump the ISO or use flash. 1/8th is a bit too slow with a 50mm to hand hold.
    3. No comment.
    4. Tighter crop
    5. Looks like it was a quick snapshot. You didn't get all of the dog in the frame. Crop just the head and it might work.
    6. Out of focus and it could use a little bump in exposure.
    7. The best one so far, but adjust the white balance.
    8. The brim of his hat is the only thing in focus. Always focus on the eyes.

    5 is best, at least you got the focus right.
