I'm leaving again on the 11th. 88 day SouthPac we just got back from a full deployment last August. I'm not too excited about going but we'll see a few new places. I'll post some pictures of my last deployment and this surge when I get back.

    88 days...

That is nothing. You should be glad you're not getting sent on a full one again.

Give me a break. I live downtown SD awesome place. I have plenty more to look foward to "deployments". I'm going to do STA-21 once I put on E-4 next month and re-enlist. I have 68 credits. I'm going to take those 36 months and party :run:.

:ugh:  If i decided to go STA-21 then I would deff not be fuckin partying and shit but I guess you could be joking--and remember that results haven't even come out yet. What is your rate anyway--you could always be prospective if you have like a 99.6 percent to adv like an IT but good luck either way. Plus I'm pretty damn sure that you need to be second class before you can even APPLY for STA-21. Plus be careful in deciding about re-enlisting, give it some time. How long have you been in anyway?

So far, I prefer Iraq over my WestPac/CrackPac deployments....mostly cause there's land to roam and my part of my CHU is much bigger then my coffin rack on a ship.

There's other pro's/con's...but i'm to tired to list them all.

There are a lot of things that we could compare between Army and Navy at-sea deployments. Getting shot at, driving/walking/running through 130 degree sewage, taking a knee in said sewage-ridden street and praying your feet/legs don't get some kind of fucked up bacterial skin-rotting aids fungus, wondering which piece of garbage/rubble/shit will blow up next... yeah, we could compare deployments, but that wasn't what i was asking. what I was getting at was how long was your "real" deployment?

    :hsugh:

A deployment for the Navy is minimum 6 months. Upwards of 9 months if needed. A surge is somewhere around 90 days, which is what he is going on now. Generally you do a surge within 6 months of coming back from a deployment. Deployments are in support of the "war on terrorism", surges are generally not.

Let me start of by saying you're misinformed about a few things. I've had 3 of my buddies do STA-21 all third classes who had to re-enlist and were promoted to E5. Another one my friends went from E1 (deck seaman) to E5 and picked up for flight school. I don't need to be lectured about advancement.

You shouldn't be so quick to judge.

i cant tell you how many times i had to crawl around in dumpster sewage and dig through bags of garbage on the ship..........maybe it was only like 100degrees but i was praying for the same thing...but yea 6 months compared to 11-13 is pretty cake :hsd:

Ya but he won't be making E6, or E5 for that matter, although he thinks that going over to kuwait means you're automatically promoted a rank. Seems to think he'll make E5 a couple months after frocking E4 :noes:
