i personally fucking hate headgear and find it to be far more dangerous than not using headgear.

The one I have (Fight Gear) never gets worn. We usually spar without headgear, but don't try to kill each other.

I actually like headgear I find it helps me with head movement I think its the extra inch on either side of your head makes you exaggerate the movement a bit more.

if i didnt wear headgear where we go wed get hurt.. WITH headgear i had a black eye a few weeks back.. the problem is when we spar MOST people there act as if its the featured title bout at a ufc event..

i get hit more with a head gear on :dunno:
it find defense and covering up awkward with something like that on your head. gets in the way of your peripheral vision too.

i've had my fair share of black eyes and knock downs. you just roll with the punches i guess...

spazzy dudes with no control sucks no matter what though

thats my biggest gripe and why i think its more dangerous for me to wear it.

and if people cant calm down when sparring then you need to tell them to go easier. most people will be happy to oblige.

i wish it was that easy.. sometimes ill say "go light" to work on tech.. and yeah it starts light.. and 30 seconds in the aggresion meter just creeps up..

i agree that headgear is fucking annoying.. but i still think im going to grab it..

    thanks for the serious input..:bigthumb:

We wear headgear but I don't like it either. Like other guys said, it reduces your peripheral vision, and a lot of times people will go harder just cause they think they are safe. But you can still feel the other guys knuckles on your face and still can get dropped as easily with headgear on as off. Only thing headgear really helps with is reducing cuts.

I suggest not getting the kind that wraps all around, under the chin, and over the orbital. Just always blocking your view.

i know what you mean too. The second you start getting the better of someone they think they need to turn it up 20 notches.

that is the EXACT shitty situation.. like rolling last night i was working with dengar and we were going over things.. and we just kept a mellow steady LEARNING pace.. it appears that MOST people where we train get SO consumed with "winning" they forget to learn.. and thats just rolling.. throw punching in there and fucking forget it.. lol

the douchiness of the people at your gyms is pretty surprising. that kind of situation is pretty rare for me and it's never been a real problem because the guys that are like that usually suck. easy to put them in their place

It's not that bad there, but we get new people often and there aren't a ton of people there consistently so it is inevitable that you will be with a new guy at some point in time.

since the "new guys" last only a week or two we are constantly filled with people who "watch ufc on tv and want to be in ufc".. so when they spar they are in it to win.. granted MOST of these people are dealt with quickly.. my brother in law "exbouncer tough guy" AWESOME nice guy but you get the idea.. didnt realize the level of what we do there.. 4 leg kicks later he was sitting down.. but its the 4 or 5 huge punches they are trying to throw BEFORE you end it that could be a problem without headgear.. lol
