Every since I built this computer the HDD light flashes every 1-2 seconds.

AMD Dual core, gigabyte mobo, WD SATA 320 gig HDD, Windows xp pro

the machine can be idle, and it still keeps flashing. any ideas?

The hard drive light will always flicker.

Maybe this is the first build you've had where you could see it all the time?

first build ever, but I've owned 4 pc's, and all of them the HDD light would only flicker when you were using it, sitting idle they would hardly ever flash

It might have just been the motherboards, and how sensitive the
settings were for hard drive activity.

The only thing you have to worry about is if it starts sounding louder than usual.

Is the light unusually bright or something?

If it is, you could just disconnect the led wire from the motherboard.
