HD Fail

    external HD Fail

    I have a Seagate Pro Mseries 500gb external and it has been working great since i got it. Recently it has been giving me this message and not mounting on the desktop. i formatted it also before ever using it

    im not sure what to do.

    Check the model # to see if it's one of the drives with the faulty firmware. There's an update for it, but you'll need access to a PC or MacPro.

    typed in my serial and it said no driver needed :dunno:

    It's the firmware, not driver. Is that what you meant?

    Time for a data recovery application. PM me for info on getting the drive imaged and getting your data back.

    ok well the little bastard decided to work all the sudden. Is there anything i can do to make sure this doesnt happen again or do you think the HD is bad?

    I'd make a backup and get another drive ASAP

    suggestions on what to get, brand wise. I don't know much about external drives and which ones are good. i would like 500gb-1tb in size
