I'm going to be show prepping a truck, and I need a suggestion on product. The color is PPG Copperhead. It's an orange metallic, similar to the new Vette color. I really want to make it pop, with a warm glow as well.

I have Natty's red, S100, all of the clearkote line, all of the Optimum line, 845IW, PB EX, DP Max Wax, and JW AJT and Prime.

My thoughts are either OP topped with S100 or full clearkote, RMG, VM, topped with CM.

here are a few examples of close colors. They could be the same as the truck I'm doing, but you know how pictures go.

Not quite this much metallic in the truck, but close on color.

i realize there's kind of a bit of difference between the truck and the cobra, and I believe the cobra is a bit better representation, but just wanted to give some good examples.

i am certainlly one of the least experience on here, but i would definitely use OS at some point for the metallic. I've used OS on my car and my guitar (on a whim, i was bored) and it really brings out the flake in the paint.

I agree, Opti-Seal has a really wet, clear look on metallics. Carnauba Moose is suprisingly good on metallics for a carnauba.

being that it's fresh paint, is OS going to be ok to go on? I'm hoping the paint should be cured (I'll be doing it dec 21/22), but a lil concerned about using a sealant on such fresh paint.

edit: and I'm sure you know what a fan of OS i am. :hsugh:

edit2: but i'm willing to give it a shot.

is that a hint that nuba's generally aren't great on a metallic?

Yeah carnauba usually mute the flake in metallics. I really think RMG or Pink Moose topped with OS would look killer!

Just like the taste of 80-year-old pussy, Depends® :mamoru:

Carnaubas tend to soften the look a bit so the metallic isn't as apparent.

I think that the polish you use is going to be the key here. I would like to see you use Meg's 80 then top it with a good carnauba. The oils in the 80 will make it pop!

    So so so....so very wrong.

Z8 looks good on metallics. I also think that Wolfgang DGPS brings out the sparkle.

I would love to give you some samples of Zaino but Im so tight on money right now and so low on Zaino and I dont plan to get more until April or so.

I could possible spare an ounce of Z2 or Z5 if you would like. That would allow you to put about 3 coats on. Let me know if you are interested.

I got a bunch, and I mean a bunch of free Zaino this summer but to try and pay it forward I gave it to the kid across the street that Im teaching to detail.
