So I put the disk in the install Tiger, and double click on "Install OSX and bundled software". When it restarts, I got a lovely Kernel Panic right after startup.

I ejected the disc by restarting with the eject button down. I tried installing "Bundled Software Only", and it said it could not be done.

Can someone please help me figure out what the heck I am supposed to do? I thought this would be so simple.

I am trying to use a disc from my buddies new iMac on my Powerbook G4. I think that might be the issue.

does the dvd say iMac on it? if it does, that would be your problem - unless someone wants to prove me wrong.

Nope, not going to work. That's an intel build of OS X. You're going to need a PPC version of OS X.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be the case. They either come for PowerPC or for Universal (being both PowerPC and Intel) so even if that were the case, it would still work.

that disc you're trying to use will only work with the computer model it came with... the intel vs PPC thing has nothing to do with it

it should just "not work" though... the kernel panic seems odd
