Computer hangs halfway through Windows install. Dell Inspiron 5150 Windows XP Home SP2 I get a laptop to reformat because it has viruses and spyware. Upon startup, I get an error that says: "Processor Microde Update Failure-The revision of processor in the system is not supported." Press F1 to continue booting or F2 to run setup (or diagnostics) It boots up fine after pressing F1. Ive taken the laptop apart and cleaned it (found a dust bunny in the heatsink), put new thermal paste, etc. and the error has not gone away. I looked at the BIOS and it's the only one out ther (no upgrading). It did look like someone worked on it before (screw marks, hair inside). I format and do a fresh install with a Dell reinstallation disc (XP Pro SP2) and it loads all the files fine then restarts the computer. It gets to the Windows logo with the scrolling bar on the bottom and after the second or third scroll, the computer hangs for however long I leave it on. The fan is on the whole time. It never gets to the second part of the install where you put your name, organization, etc. Ive formatted and reinstalled 5 times already with different Dell discs but it hangs up in the same spot. What's wrong?
