:wtc: heading to the She & Him show tonight (Zooey FTW), and called ahead to check on the venue's camera policy. "Point & shoot are fine, no pro, no flash". At least they had one, half the time I get responses like "uhh... yeah, cameras are fine" only to get to the door and required to check it (ie- required to go back to my car).

*sigh* Oh well, G9 it is!

I assume interchangeable lens and/or SLR. I didn't want to get into semantics between pro, prosumer, and consumer DSLRs :hs:

I think you'd be okay, as long as you don't have one of those lenses that look like a black or grey parking cone.

they made announcements between every band that video recording was not allowed. the dude that's staring at me had previously walked over and told me that, and I was like, "ok.. this is an SLR.. it isn't even capable of recording video." and then he called the cops

In your first pic, the sign on the wall (above the cop) says "No Flash Photography." It doesn't say "No Photography."

You should've pointed that out to them.

    Idiots.

there were people taking pictures all over the place.. and people with little digital P&Ss were recording video.. but all they cared about was my SLR

Wow, so... apparently they changed their minds and were saying "no cameras AT ALL" when coming in. Well, people were taking pictures, and idiots were using flashes. They started yanking people out when they saw an LCD backlight or flash, probably about 20 people that I saw got kicked out :ugh:

So, I went dark; no AF beam, no LCD, no review. Basically shooting blind and putting it in my pocket after each shot. Well, apparently ISO: HI mode doesn't work in Tv, so it picked auto 200  Only one picture even barely worth keeping :wtc:

Yeah, decent singer too, but terrible performer. Can't interact w/ the audience worth a damn, and tries to talk as soon as people start cheering after a song. So... did not hear one word she said all night.

Ok here's what I did. I didn't care what the venue said. I've been to 4 john mayer concerts. What I do is wear semi baggy shorts or jeans and take the lens off the camera and put the cap son them so it doens't get dust on the shutter and lenses. All the security guards did was look at me see I didn't have a bag and waved me in tot search the 16 year old half drunk teenager with the huge fake purse behind me. Once you get in take it out and get ready for the show. But I would call ahead to make sure they don't have metal detectors as some venues do have that.

I've taken mine to a few in Atlanta, none cared. I forget which venues though. My AV was taken at a Spoon concert. Even in places in Texas, they never minded. If they are okay with P&S and don't have a 'no camera at all' rule, then I think it comes down to how cool the security guards and front gate people are.
