The upwards motion would be a curl, then the downwards motion a pushdown (on some sort of machine) Or a leg extension and a ham curl, etc... so the target muscle is flexed, then the opposing one is extended. Would this work and has anyone ever created one?

I think that would require you to defy gravity.

i'm not sure i see how that would work, it would have to be some wierd kind of resistance invovled, friction or something...

now that i think about it, you could probably do it on some kind of bowflex... hard to see how it would be more effective though

instead of the bicep muscle assisting in lowering the bar, the tricep would be pulling it back down immediately, kind of an all around arm exercise

Which overall, when compared to normal arm exercises, would be absolutely meaningless.

I don't know, but last week I saw this guy pull a bench up to the push down cables and started doing upside down curls :mamoru:

it would have to be a machine and when you got to the top of the curle motion it would change resistance and same thing when it got to the bottum of the motion. The friction idea was good, maybe move fluid through some sorta tube where you are squishing it back and forth kinda like a shock in a car.

I layed here and thought about it for awhile, heres how it could be done: have a cylinder with oil or some other viscus fluid in it and a shaft that runs down into it. At the bottum of the shaft is a washer type deal, so when you pull up the fluid has to squish through the hole in the washer. Well when you are at the top to go back down you would have to smash the washer back down and squish the fluid back through the hole. you could very resisitance by having different washers with different sized holes. Smaller holes for more resistance and larger ones for easier resistance.

someone told me that at "curves" they have a machine like that.... where there's resistance going both directions so you're hittin' both bicep and triceps at the same time... so, I guess you can go to "curves" to find that machine... :mamoru:
