I have been on effexor for about 3.5 years and I do not think it does me much good anymore. Has anyone switched from effexor to another anti-depresant and how did it work?

Or have you switched from one AD to another and how was the transition.

I have taken about ten kinds of ADs over the past decade and what I have learned is this: A drug at that works at first won't keep working forever. I don't know why this is the case but many people experience this. Transitions between drugs can be rough, particularly if they are rushed. Some of the worst depression I have had occurred while switching drugs. However this can be avoided if the transition is done slowly, which means tapering off one drug while adding the next. This lessons the shock from doing it cold turkey, and trust me, you don't want to do it that way.
