Has anyone had any luck removing HP Power On passwords?

    NOT bios passwords, I can use different tools like cmspwd and killcmos for those, without any problems. I also have access to another motherboard that DOES NOT have a Power On password, but I don't know which chip it is for a swap (yes, that board is already bad). Any help is greatly appreciated.

    best bet would be to contact hp
    that password is not stored in CMOS, it is stored in an EEPROM, a chip soldered to the mobo.
    i think they have a master reset code or they will tell you to bring it at a service center.
    either way, you will need to prove that pc is yours.
