with there D70, i have herd mixed reviews, im looking for a decent zoom lens 70-300mm perhaps, and i have been reading about the nikkor one and the sigma and they both sound like there pretty decent... any reason why i shouldnt buy a sigma over the nikkor.

i was looking at this one....

    Sigma - 135-400mm F4.5-5.6 APO-Aspherical lens for Nikon AF $559.99

    VS

    Nikon - 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED Lens - Rebate Final Cost $289.95

:dunno: im kinda leaning toward the sigma... just for that extra zoom power, im just hoping the image doesnt go soft when its zoomed into 400...:dunno: any one have and experiences with that sigma?

    I have a 300D, but have 2 Sigma's in my bag:

    28-70 f2.8-4
    70-300 f4-5.6 Super Macro II

I have had great luck with the Macro. The 28-70 does good, but I like the Canon kit lense better. I use the macro lense for my zoom and of course macro shots.....its a great lense.

well i ended up getting a Quandray 70-300 with macro, it seems like a decent quality lens, has a metal mount .... unlike the nikkor one i looked at. the focus on the quantaray is kinda slow... but its not bad. i have played around with it a little bit in the back yard but im am such a noob i got pleanty to learn.... the guy at Kits camera told me it is basicly made by sigma for kits/ritz/wolfs camera...:dunno: not sure how much BS that is but it seems to be a nice lens.

i also picked up a coulpe UV filters and a polarizer filter to play around with that...
