I've got an HP ML370 G3 server here (link) and I want to add a USB2.0 adapter card to it. Only problem is that the server has full length PCI-X slots. I read that PCI-X slots suport PCI devices, so I went ahead and ordered a $10 PCI to USB2.0 card and of course it doesn't fit. It's as if the card is too short.

Anyone know what my options are? I'm thinking the Adaptec DuoConnect (AUA-3020) (link) should work, but the card is PCI and doesn't look any different than the one I bought which didn't fit.

wy do you want to add a usb2 card to it? all ports on any mobo that has pci-x are already 2.0

use a usb hub instead if you need more ports

The HP ProLiant ML370 G3s don't support USB2.0 ... only 1.1. The G4s come shipped with USB2.0 support, but we've had this server for a few years now.

and PCI-X isn't the same as PCI Express.

The PCI card should fit into the PCI-X slot. It won't fill it completely obviously, but it should fit.

yes it fits, but how would I secure it, since the bracket is an inch away from the screw hole when I seat the card in place? Do they sell different length PCI cards?
