ok well after missing out on thi awesome deal http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/howToGetItTab.do?c=1&zip=65775&oid=160290&userClick=&showMoreStores=true#tabs i am looking into another lap top, a toshiba. here is the link http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Specifications-of-Toshiba-Satellite-15-4-Widescreen-Notebook-PC-A105-S4384/sem/rpsm/oid/162246/rpem/ccd/productDetailSpecification.do#tabs

everything checks out about this laptop except one thing: hard drive speed. it says its only at 4200 rpm when the industry standard seems to be 5300rpm I plan to use it for some light/moderate gaming along with school work and music. How important is the hard drive speed in relation to gaming? it has alot of space and a good processor...will that be enough to support some gaming?

no idea about the laptop and gaming, but the 4200rpm / 5300rpm thing won't make a noticeable difference.

Faster spinning hard drives make for more responsive systems overall. On a desktop, there's a big difference between 7200 and 10,000 rpm drives. 4200 to 5300 won't be as much, but it still matters.

Even on a desktop a 5400RPM makes a noticeable difference compared to a 7200RPM drive.

For laptops between 4200 and 5300 might be too noticeable as for access time but makes a good bit of difference in the heat produced.

I got that same Toshiba for $850 also- but at Best Buy. It's pretty nice.
