so ive been copying all my files from my 120gb hdd over onto my new 250gb hdd, now problem is, that the 250 has been running fine, ive put some copied dvd's over to it, all my video files for my editing, and also music...

this was fine yesterday when i turned the pc off, and this morning when i turned it on, the 250 said that it wasnt formatted and had no data on it...

anyone know what could be the problem, or how i could get all my files back instead of re-formatting?

    any help would be good.

Did you format it before you started copying things over?

Is the drive in an external enclosure?

I had a similar thing happen to me a while back. I got a delayed write error on my external drive and the partition got corrupted.

Maybe there is some kind of repair utility out there? Run a google search and see what comes up.

Yea, if you arent afraid of recopying the data, dont try and repair it - that could just cause bad sectors and other bad issues to occur. Best to just reformat and recopy the information.
