I just got a new computer.

    Intel Core 2 Duo 6600
    nForce 680i LT SLI
    e-GeForce 7600 GT

I need 3 hard drives, probably 200GB for C: and two 300GB for storage. I have a lot of photos, video and music. Which hard drives should I get :x:? The computer guy says my hard drives are bad and I need to replace them?

    Thanks

What else do I have to buy? The guy said something about there only being 2 slots for hard drives and I need to get some type of extension. Any idea what he's talking about :)?

Do I need SATA or IDE drives - looking in Newegg.

You have 6 connectors on the motherboard, get SATA of course.

if you have a shitty case it may have only had room for 2 hdds. you can fab your own bracket in most cases, or use a slot for the floppy drive/cd-drive/etc. depends on the case.

My case is big enough. I just don't know what the guy is talking about. He said I only have 2 express slots for the 3 hard drives, so I need an adapter. Help please :x:?

wow he's a fucking idiot. stop listening to him. an express slot has NOTHING to do with a hard drive in your system.

Buy SATA harddrives. Buy cables if they're not supplied with the drives. Plug them into the motherboard. Most boards these days have 4-6 SATA connectors.

Go to PC Buzz. They have one in Torrance and one in Santa Ana.

You're better off building it yourself so you don't have to pay someone in the future to fix some silly problem that you could have learned about on your own.

Anymore, it's not terribly complicated to put a machine together. if you're worried about items being compatible, post them on here.

drives, tower, PS, mobo, Gcards, etc.
