    HAPPY NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY!

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the unveiling of the Aids Quilt and it was the 2nd anniversary of the Gay Pride March on Washington. 20 years go the President, guided by Jerry Falwell, may he rot in hell, did jack shit about aids. Being gay during this time meant fighting for your life, those of your loved one's and for the future. We must respect, and give thanks to those who gave us a voice, who fought the goverment to make right.

    To quote Ani Difranco
    " I am indebted joyfully
to all the people throughout its history
who have fought the government to make right
where so many cunning sons and daughters
    our foremothers and forefathers
    came singing through slaughter
came through hell and high water
so that we could stand here
    and behold breathlessly the sight
how a raging river of tears
is cutting a grand canyon of light"

Happy coming out day, be proud, be supportive, accept those around you who are different and don't ever let anyone tear you down because you are different. We have a long way to go before we are truly equal, don't forget that!

I know this isn't a song normally associated with coming out, but as simple as the lines are, it what I feel like when I hear a straight person passively say "oh yeah, Ive been through tough stuff, like coming out....."

I feel like smacking them and saying
    "What you know about that?
    What you know about that?
Hey what you know about that?
Hey I know all about that"

So many people have no idea how hard it can be to come out, so show your support for fellow LGBT folks today!

    AGREED!

    ALSO :
Give your LGBT loved ones a hug today :) If you're straight but not narrow...thank you for being accepting, loving and evolved, YOU ROCK..

and IF YOU ARE LGBT...give your fag hag, BRO-MO, Trans-Fan, etc. LOTS OF LOVE TODAY as you know we wouldn't be as fabulous without them. They are gifts to be celebrated!
