I used to just do a bunch of crunches for abs, but I hear these are better. The only problem is when I do them I don't feel like I get as good of a work out. I also maybe be doing them wrong. So I just hang there and lift my legs up slowly right? Show my knees be bent or straight? And would 5x5 be worth it? Anyone else have experience with these?

bent are easier for the noob. you can do more. focus on keeping the lower abs tight when going through the range of motion. i do few sets of 30 hanging on a bar, makes it harder to stabilize.

do it for 15+ reps or until you can't do anymore for 3 sets, you'll feel it then

I only do sets of 5-8 straight legs.
Keep your legs straight throughout until your feet touches the bar or your hands.
A tip... the less your feet go over the bar, the better...abwise.

try and lift them strait legged, and when you hit as high as you can, spread your legs apart, then back together, then lower as slow as possible....

    Edit: fixed

i lower the end of the bench so i can go lower... go as low as you can to the ground without touching so your abs contract and are used to stop the leg motion and reverse it. you can squeeze a dumbbell between your feet (or ankle weights) to add resistance... as always, go balls out with ab work.
