Okay, so its not of me doing hang cleans, but they sure can be tough on the hands.

It was my last set(225x5). If I had a dime for everytime I this has happened while doing hang cleans I would be rich. Maybe one day my dumbass will buy some gloves. Speaking of such, can anyone recommend a good pair of gloves?

I've been working on my power clean form to learn the catch, but they seem to land right on my shoulders or wrist, and both hurt after a while... I wish 24 Hour Fitness had some Olympic lifters :big grin:

I had a callus there, the whole thing ripped off. The reason that spot gets jacked so much when I do hangcleans/powercleans is because of my form at the end. Instead of raising my elbows really high and letting the weight fall on my front delt, I pretty much just catch it w/ my hands and rest the weight on that exact spot. The grips on the bars just start sawing away.

I have been trying to correct my form for 7 years :wtc: . There is so much that goes into this movement, without a coach, I doubt I could do it on my own. That and I only do this lift once a week. I would really need to focus on it at least a couple times a week and spend a good portion of my gym time just doing form work. Not really something I am willing to do right now.

remember to catch the bar with your tricep/bicep part of arm paralell to the ground...that means haveign the bar resting on shoulders not hands at all.

glvoes are for teh pussy, if you msut use straps...

learning hang cleans added 50lb to my clean.

yeah you'd think that hang cleans would be easier but they're tougher.

I know how the movement is supposed to go and what it is supposed to look like, but knowing and doing are 2 different animals.....at least for me anyways. There are other issues w/ my form that are preventing me from catching the weight in this manner, mainly not dropping low enough. If I ever get serious with this lift, I will start focus'ing on a 100% complete form, but for now, my 80% does a great job of just tearing up my traps and upper back, which is what I use the lift to target.
