i've been thinking about what handgun i'd like to get for CCW, or possibly handguns

    so far im considering the kahr CW9 and/or a S&W j-frame.

if you say glock, know that the kahr is smaller, slimmer and lighter than a G26 :wavey: plus, i dont like the feel of them in my hand enough to carry them :o

i've shot a ton of guns, liked most, but i havent shot vary many "pocket" type guns. i'd carry the j-frame in a pocket holster, and if i got a slim semi-auto it'd be in an OWB holster :dunno:

what do you guys carry? suggestions?

I love my P99c, and a lot of people use them for CCW purposes. You're welcome to meet up with me at the range some time and try it out if you'd like.

My 642 is easy to carry, not much good over 7 yards though (at least not for me).

I handled a Khar at a recent show, felt good, I've read they can be picky about ammo though. Coworker of mine picked up a compact M&P a couple weeks ago and seems to like it a lot.

    P99c>>>M&P 9c

Hoss... let me know when you want to go. I'll bring the other backstraps and such so we can make something work.

The nice thing is that if you run a P99c, you can get the grip extensions to allow for a full size grip as well, giving you lots of size options.

    Officer-length (4.25" barrel) 1911 w/bobtail, possibly alloy-framed too. 7+1 (or 8+1, depending on mags), .45ACP.
Slim singlestack design, bobtail reduces grip protrusion, God's Own Caliber....need I say more?

also, what the fuck is the point of putting rails on guns like the M&P9c and the P99c?

clean look of the kahr > 1" of rail

Maybe the bit about the alloy frame and reduced size addresses that? Dennis seems to like his alloy-framed, Commander-length 1911 pretty well, and (since I've handled it), it's a darn sight lighter than a standard steel, fullsize 1911. By about 3/4 of a pound, I'd say. When the gun itself only weighs a little over 2.5 lbs in its fullsize steel version....taking it down to 1.75 really helps.

    Just a thought.

Because if they didn't people would bitch about it.

Guns that small have no tactical reason for having a tac rail.
