I know this is probably post #174376284 on this subject, but I'd like a few opinions.

It will be mainly used for the range/light defense. Would like a full size (not concealing, so don't need a compact). My brother has a 9mm Beretta and I like the feel of it, but would like something different so we have a little variety.

I was leaning towards a 9mm due to ammo prices, but would really like a 1911 one of these days. How much more is .45 compared to 9mm? I've done some searches and seen prices all over the scale for both.

.45ACP is almost double the cost of 9mm. 100 round value packs of 9mm at Wal-Mart are $10.98, while .45 is $19.98.

Oh, and I'll second the suggestion of a Browning Hi-Power. I have one in .40S&W and it's an awesome gun. The fit and finish is perfect! I wish I would of got it in 9mm though. I have a CZ-75 (9mm), it's the same basic design of the Hi-Power and I am a much better shot with it.

    Who makes a 9mm 1911? I think I've only ever seen them in .45

I love the Browning Hi-Power. Especially with the wood grips!
