I'm considering getting the .22LR conversion kit for my P229 when it comes out. It's a little more than $300, putting it on par with other dedicated .22LR pistols. I'm swaying towards the conversion kit because I'll be shooting my carry gun and never change grip angle, which sounds good to me.

Any disadvantages to buying the .22LR conversion for cheap practice on my carry gun?

EDIT: It is the one that Sig Sauer is putting out from the factory.

I'd wait until it comes out.

    There are so many variables.

Is it put out by SIG?

Advantage Arms makes conversions for Glocks. I'm not sure about SIGs.
They are very reliable and let you get a lot of cheap practice in on sight picture and trigger control

What you going to use the .22 conversion kit for, just practice or rim fire matches?

I figured it would be advantageous for sight picture and trigger pull, but disadvantageous for the second trigger pull because of the lack of recoil. Anyone have thoughts on that?

Practice. Much cheaper to practice a draw, double tap, holster, repeat than 9mm.

I've had a Ceiner 1911, an AA Glock Kit, and the Kadet upper for my CZ's.

I'm a fan, and my Kadet is going to be the baddest rimfire pistol around when I'm done with it. It's already hands down better/faster/cooler than any other rimfire I've messed with (with the possible exception of a S&W 41), and allows for easy transition to my "real guns".

    Buy.

I believe I would personally get enjoyment from having both a range toy plinker 22 with some sort of optic and a conversion kit for cheap time with my regular gun. I vote yea, $300 is steep for a conversion kit but still thats what a case and half of 9mm?

Mine actually worked OK. It wasn't very accurate though.... I had a MKII at the time that shot much tighter than it, and kept it instead. I had a friend who went through two of them that just wouldn't run, and he eventually caught up with Jonathon Arthur Ceiner at Knob Creek to ask him about it. I wasn't there, but apparently JAC's reputation as being a grade A asshole is well founded. Apparently my friend and JAC had quite the heated discussion, which ended up with my friend throwing the kit at him from across the table. So yah, fuck that guy.

How does the recoil compare .22LR to 9mm?

    22 kicks less than 9mm.

Huh? You mean how it tracks, or what?

"recoil" (as in push/flip) from a steel framed full size pistol like a CZ is precisely dick.

That's what I figured. It seems like a good buy to get my muscle memory (draw, sight, and trigger pull) down but a hinderance to practice double taps, etc.

Pretty much. Shooting the fuck out of 22 pistols helped me with accuracy, but it can hurt me with my timing when I switch to bigger stuff. I want to shoot open rimfire steel, but am afraid too much time there will detract from my shooting fullsize stuff. Will have to see how it plays out I suppose.

I think I'll pick one up. Since the first shot is the most critical I think it'll be money well spent to fix all my bad habits for one cent per round. Then move up to 9mm practice doing double taps later. :hsd:

$313 from Top Gun Supply. Slightly more expensive than a POSquito. Seems worth it to me for practice on my carry gun. :dunno: Is it high compared to other .22LR conversions?

I added the Advantage Arms conversion kit for my glock to my x-mas list... I already have a couple of 22 pistols, but it would be cool to get some cheap practice with my primary weapon...

I don't see that shooting .22 has slowed me down at all; I think it's sped me up. :dunno:
