I was about to use Handbrake for the first time in quite a while, and on a whim I decided to check for updates at their website.

It looks like they just had a MAJOR release yesterday! Not sure what all is new if you were using the beta, but for me (using 0.7.1) it is really different. New interface and a lot of nice features.

I use it to copy DVD movies to my hard drive. It can write to a bunch of different formats including ones optimized for PSP, iPod, etc.

I don't have much experience with MTR, but I believe it's required if you want to make a bit-for-bit copy of a DVD (like to an ISO disk image). I'm not sure if MTR can do all of the different transcodings that HandBrake can do (like converting to iPod-friendly format). So to me they are different tools for different tasks, although I may be mistaken about what each can and can't do. :dunno:

BTW the new version of HandBrake is crashing on me. It ripped "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" fine but it's crashing when I insert "Lady Vengeance". Maybe my disc is scratched though.
