STOP. After this weekend I am a changed man. I took a class and it really opened my eyes. Before I would go to the range and not really screw around but it was basically wasted range time. I would load up some mags, go bang bang bang, whatever, replace the target etc. It became obvious very quickly I did not know how to practice. That's where TRAINING comes into play. Now I know HOW to practice. Bottom line is, if you use your guns for defense, TAKE A FUCKING CLASS. Learn how to shoot and practice, then buy another gun if you must. Don't blow the classes off as a waste of time or money, they are worth every penny. A different gun does not make you a better shooter.

And for ShackleMeNot...There were like 5 glock at the class and 4 of them had malfunction problems  My dirty Wilson ran like a champ :noes:

I did an hour's worth of draw firing at 1, 7 and 15 yds on Sunday. Man was it beautiful out.

That being said, I still like to buy guns, and you can't stop me. :big grin:

No, I mean we did some retention at 1 yard, but most of our actual shooting was 15+

15+ yards is pretty far for self defense, I figured they would take you on a lot of retention and 10 yards and under stuff. Firing from holster clear

You forgot to mention the one that had the catastrophic meltdown. I would imagine that it's a bit disconcerting when your G19 breaks in two and falls to the ground. To think I once heard someone say that "All pistols should be a G19". All of those Glocks that failed to run were well maintained too..........

Who said it was a self defense class. The effective range of a weapon is set by the skill of the user.

Blah blah blah. Look at the training NewJack.

I see HUNDREDS of pistols every year in classes and Glocks in 9mm are by far the most reliable. Just because you took ONE class your sample size is a little small to extrapolate, don't you think?

Oh and all defense pistols should be Glock 19's.

Dude you get a bit too wrapped around the axle about this stuff. No guns are perfect, everyone knows that. It seems like you identify who YOU are as a person with what gun you're carrying, screw that man. It's a tool just like any other tool, not a person to defend so blindly.

PT may have only been to one class, I myself stopped counting hours long ago. I've seen all types of guns fail, which is why I don't step out and act like one is the best for all purposes. Pointing out the glocks that failed was tounge in cheek on my part. I think that the way you jock up the G19 is setting some people up for failure. But I understand that you either have to tow the line from your boss, or that you just believe every conclusion he comes to. But hey that's how it shakes sometimes dude.

    Stop calling me Dude.

Your post can be "tongue and cheek" but my post wasn't? WTF?

Yeah, I tow the line from my boss. If I have only one original thought today it’s this: Andy, you are an idiot.

I quoted the wrong post, anyone not more of an idiot than me would've picked that up. Idiot or not I won't go to bed tonight worrying that someone doesn't like what gun I use.

I can say the same thing. I've taught hundreds of classes and thousands and thousands of pistols used. Using my sample size I can say with experience that Glocks are not as reliable as CZs, Berettas and definately can't touch Rugers. And all of those can't hold a candle to the good old revolvers. But then again over half the problems aren't the guns but the shooters.

So now I am discounted just because I have only been to one class but have seen 2 glocks with FTE problems, 1 FTF, and one the whole thing fell apart on the SAME FUCKING DAY

Must have been the pollen content in GA that day :noes:
