I'm lookin to buy a new video card for the release of HL2, and I'm wondering what my best choice would be for under $300. Right now I'm running a GeForce 4 TI4200, but because of Nvidia's supposed problems with HL2 and curiosity im leaning towards an ATI card this time. Any help/suggestions would be great, thanks in advance :)

You can get an ATI Radeon 9800 PRO or XT for around $250 - $300 (maybe a little more for the xt model). From what I hear, you should be able to play HL2 on decent settings with that card, though still not the highest settings. Plus, I think ATI still has that deal going where you get a free copy of HL2 when you buy the card.

You can get an ati 9800 way cheaper then 300... They sell for like 150-200 now, id look for a good deal on an x800, you can prob find one for a little over 300, like 320-350.
