Hair Shampoo

  1. I tried to search for some answers, but couldn't find any. My uncle wants me to take my car to a detailer because I'm getting some oxidation on my roof. Supposedly this guy uses Herbal Essences to wash his car. I mean, what the hell, is that good for the car?

PS- I'm a complete disgrace to car maintenance...I get my car washed with my 6.99 coupons at the local car wash.

Klasse AIO is great for oxidized finishes. It is a chemical (rather than abrasive) cleaner.

  8. I'm going to go to some guy in Westlake Village because he's friends with my uncle so he'll charge me only $45 for an outside detail. Is that even a good price? You have no idea how cluless I am...

  9. Well holy shit, the last guy you posted is like down the street from me. Maybe I'll check him out, but for $45 the other guy is hard to resist.

$45 for SoCal is dirt cheap. Usually, a low price means low quality work. I'd check his work out first. In detailing, you really get what you pay for. I charge $65 and up for a wash, polish and wax. More if heavy claying or polishing is needed and for larger vehicles.

  11. Well...supposedly he's good friends with my uncle and my uncles car look pretty decent. Also, have a small car (toyota camry). I really wouldn't know what to look for in what is 'good' or not.

I tried this. Added 5hp of stimulation. :naughty:

edit: $45 means they're not spending a whole lot of time on your car, they don't know they could get more, or they just plain suck. Maybe if you knew the person and they knew you and they were cutting you a deal...maybe. :hs:

If it has been a while since your Camry was waxed, a proper exterior detail would include the following:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay all horizontal surfaces
    3. Polish
    4. Wax or sealant

If the person is using a buffer to wax your car, make sure they are using foam pads for the final buffing and waxing. Under no circumstances should you let anyone use a wool pad to apply a one step cleaner wax or the actual wax. You will end up with rotary swirls. The only time a wool pad would be needed is if you have serious paint problems, and then they should follow with a foam pad and a swirl remover.

Make sure you look over your car in the direct sun. This is what you do not want to see:

Those swirls are caused by improper buffer use/pad selection. Believe me, that is bad!

That is what Moritz BMW in Arlington, TX calls 'dealer prep'. Some moron took a rotary and a wool pad to a brand new BMW 545 and swirled the hell out of it.
