btw for future reference, I think we need a hair thread.

was browsing sites and came across these 2 pics, any recommendations on how I could get my hair to look like this?

I have very fine hair, takes a lot of product to get it to stay in place. I think my hair length is about right though, here's a pic for reference (sorry, only good one I could find that shows my current length)

I'm guessing lots of wax would be a step in the right direction, but for all I know my hair might not even be the right type.

Tongs, comb for backcombing, hairspray and possibly volumising mousse.

Their hair is probably naturally wavy so it will dry naturally something *close* to what the end result is, particularly in the second picture with the waves around the back of his head.

if you have hairspray or mousse, half dry your hair, spray your hair and twist and scrunch it with your fingers. possibly after backcombing first.

    it may work :dunno:

I'm just guessing here. Most girls I know can just let their hair dry naturally after putting mousse in and it's mad curly.

    mind your fingers.

it hurts like fucking hell when you misjudge and either burn your finger, scalp or ear. One is guaranteed.

update: tried it without using a curling iron. I think I got halfway there, lol. Gonna try it with a curling iron and some stronger wax and a little more hairpsray. I think my hair just isn't long enough at the front. Oh well, decent attempt.

I dunno, short hair gets an easy curl. I would actually buy a curling shampoo and a curl activator. Put the activator under your other products before you start styling. I think it's gonna be hard to get that with a curling iron...either naturally curly or a perm is better. Even as a female who is clumsy, I find that hi-tech type curly do's are REALLY hard to emulate.

If those tips don't work I've had a lot of luck sleeping on my hair wet to start a curl/wave and then misting my hair in the morning to get it a bit damp and restyling.

ps- NEVER use any heat on wet hair. It needs to be bone dry and with little product. If you see steam coming off your hair, stop.

Would this style still work if I had ridiculously thick hair? Also, just about how long do you think their hair is?

I underestimated the length, my hair is getting pretty long and it didn't turn out to be long enough.

That's what I figured, it looks pretty long for most guys and then all the curls would make it longer. Any styles I can rock till it reaches near that length?
