Somedays, I really regret buying Canon: http://www.16-9.net/lens_tests/1740.html

:hsugh: I think I'm going to buy my own Zeus prime to compare for myself. (and yeah, I know comparing a zoom to a prime is apples and oranges. stfu)

I agree, his methods are questionable at best, but I priced a Zeus 28 f/2.8 and adapter and it's less than a Canon 20mm 2.8. So, I figure I don't have much to lose in buying it and trying it out for myself.

If I don't like it then I'm sure there will be another measurebating sackrider willing to buy it for what I pay for it. :mamoru:

On a serious note, I knew that most of Canon's primes are just shit going in and I've been planning on using Nikkor AI-S primes anyway. I checked a couple other places and some of the Zeiss glass edges out Nikon in certain FLs. At other lengths the Nikons win. I'll end up with a mixed bag, but for what I shoot, idgaf.

I checked B&H and the Sigma 20 is exactly the same rediculous price as the Canon 20. There aren't any listed on ebay or KEH either. :dunno:

I guess I'll never be OT photo l33t without any Shitmas in my bag. So much for Tomash status. :noes: :wtc:

I think you answered your own "question" (though you were not asking a question) in your origional post.

They're comparing a prime to a zoom. Of course it's going to be a lot sharper. And if the Ziess is still sharper than Canon primes then kudos to them for making a super product. It doesn't make Canon lenses worse, nor do I think it makes a big difference in the long run.

If you need maxium resolution on a 1Ds MKII then go buy one. If you're using a camera with less resolving power than the 1Ds or a 1.3 or 1.6 crop body you're probably not going to notice much difference.

Sure, because soft lenses are BETTER. Right? :ugh2: I made a statement I didn't ask a question. I posted it to show the blind Canon sackriders.

It's not about "resolving power" which is just measurebating bullshit, a soft lens is a soft lens. Period. And it's going to be soft at 2 megapixels or 20. I expect a zoom to be softer, but not that much softer.

    Anyway, blah blah blah.

We had an interweb miscommunication. When I said "it doesn't make canon lenses worse" what I mean is, they did not suddenly degrade in quality because Zeiss made a better resolving lens.

And it is a measure of resolving power. Softness is a qualitative term related to one's perception of a lens' resolving power. What is soft to one person is not necessarilly soft to somebody else. For zooms I think the Canon lenses are doing fine in regards to corner resolving power.

If you disagree nobody is making you buy a Canon lens ever again.
