So I got back into the gym after a long break. Decided I would do Christopher's routine ( :mamoru: ) and started with the squats. Me and a friend both hit 210, which for us is a PR. I'm gonna be sore tommorrow. :noes:

Sweet. It's a great routine to get you back into the big compound exercises...

It's probably because you were doing the beginner's 5x5 routine?

Advanced lifters are supposed to do:
Monday: 5x5 of a set weight like 275x5x5
Friday: pryamid up to a new record. max set: 305x5x1

I've raced dirt bike for a few years, and never really got sore legs. The first day on this routine killed me. I was sore for at least three days. Could have been because the only leg work I have done since high school (10 years ago) was racing mtn bikes and dirt bikes.

On a side note; when you guys are going for PR's, do you work up to them gradually or just warm up then throw on something heavy? I've never tried to max before.

i got in the gym for the first time in a couple weeks and didn't really do any specific routine, but focused on my legs. specifically working my hamstrings as hip extensors. now i can hardly squat down to shit. lol. comes with the territory.

I am extremely sore today, and most likely it's because I am new and took a break.

Soreness is not necessarily an indication of a good workout.
