Woke up at around 0500 to drive down to Richmond to join members of www.vcdl.org - www.gunowners.org - www.opencarry.org - www.nraila.org among others to talk to our delegates and senators about 2nd Amendment rights and how important it is to us. Around 400 of us showed up and Lobbied for about 4 hours total, had a rally and had some pretty good speakers.

If anyone lives in Virginia, I highly recommend joining one of these groups and participating in the democratic process. It was definitely a great experience and i can't wait to do it again.

    those who spoke:
    Doc Thompson, WRVA
    Philip Van Cleave, VCDL President
    Larry Pratt, GOA Executive Director
    Mary Katharine Ham, Weekly Standard
    Jeff Knox, Firearms Coalition
    Senator Ken Cuccinelli
also Rev. Kenn Blanchard - the original "black man with a gun" www.blackmanwithagun.com

some pictures are on facebook with more to come:

I've considered joining the NRA because of the ideal, but I have too much prejudice towards the people.

the best $25 you'll ever spend is the membership dues for vcdl - they're the best gun lobby in virginia.

Thanks for proving my point. I'm not as rabidly pro-gun as you are? Then I must be a godless flip-flopping liberal faggot.

I have no problem with people owning guns. The last thing I want is for government employees to have exclusive power of life and death over people, because power needs insecurity to keep it honest. I like the Swiss approach -- everyone has a gun, everyone knows how to use it. The problem is that there are a lot of people who see owning a gun as a right instead of as a responsibility, as something they deserve instead of as something they need to do -- and do correctly -- for the good of the country they live in.

I'll be honest, I have no idea how many of those people are represented in gun lobbies, or whether gun lobbies overwhelmingly represent responsible gun owners. All I'm saying is there's a stigma, whether fair or unfair, and I don't want to be associated with the stereotype.

    don't mind hsmith.

    those are legitimate concerns

but as far as i know, most if not all of vcdl's members are responsible gun owners.

check out www.ocdo.org - as most of the members hang out there. you'll find that a lot are well versed in the law and the democratic process

I expressed my point of view, which happened to piss someone off. (Can you imagine? Someone angry on the Internet? Scandal!) Your post was intended to try to piss me off. And it wasn't even your first worthless post in this thread. You are the troll, not I.

No, I'm not posting this for you. I'm posting this for the intelligent people in WMD.
