hacking a laptop screen for pc use

    [SIZE=-1]has any one come accross a way to hack together a digital laptop screen for vga use or any thing of the sort

    info: my dad has a few laptops that are broken and he offerd to send me some screens so i thought of putting them into use again :big grin:

    cliff's: im looking for url's to some edu's on how to hack together some laptop lcd monitors for use on a pc

    There is equipment available to do this, but it is expensive. You could buy a new 17-19" flat panel monitor for the price of a controller card.

    Sell the panels on eBay and buy an LCD intended for desktop use instead of some kludge.

    Seriously, listen to them. I've tried this before, total waste of my time. You're better off selling everything on ebay and buying new. There's so much bullshit involved that you're almost guaranteed to fuck something up.

    I looked into this a couple months ago because I have a dead dell laptop with a perfect LCD screen. It was going to cost more than buying a new desktop LCD just in parts and that doesn't guarantee it will work. That reminds me, I need to part out that laptop on eBay.

    No kidding. Anytime one of our printers breaks in a remote office, we buy a new one because it's cheaper than sending someone to fix it. Plus you get new ink which is worth about as much as the printer too.

    Now THAT is wasteful.
