Was it deleted? Did the poor guy not get the answer he wanted, so he deleted his own thread?
It was going in the wrong direction, so it was deleted.
I made some mistakes in the discussion, and in the act I portrayed, so instead of turning it into a flame war, I deleted it.
what was it about?
had a few drinks, was carrying his gun and got into a fight
drinking + packing = fucking retarded
It's one stipulation I happen to agree with. Alcohol & firearms DO NOT mix.
Few drinks was 3 over a course of 4 hrs
What part of dont drink and carry do you not understand.
Oh my god
Now I want cliffs.
To each his own, but I don't turn into a slobbering retard after having a beer. If you're an out of control drinker or planning a college night on the bars out, perhaps thats sound. To leave your gun at home because you're having a beer with your dinner out is unnecessary.
If you ever had to use it, or even display it, as soon as it was found you had any alcohol in your system you would be nailed to the cross. All it would take is a good attorney to make you out to be the gunpacking drunk looking for a reason to shoot to a jury.
And all it takes is for you to keep your mouth shut until you talk to YOUR attorney (if he's any good). 99% of the time people get in trouble because they think they can talk their way out of something. If you do something that you know you could be in deep shit for call your lawyer before you talk to any cop.
COPS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS! TALKING TO THEM AND BEING "COOPERATIVE" WILL NOT GET YOU OFF EASIER!
That's not to say that there aren't cool cops out there. You're just better off assuming that they're all out to get you. Just don't be beligerant or an asshole. If they get tough with you ignore them until you talk to your lawyer.
If I had to use it I think I'd be glad to be alive to see a courtroom. Would you rather not have it and be dead? As long as I'm not impaired I'm comfortable with a beer in me. I personally don't think in zero tolerance ways and I won't be paralyzed by the thought of litigation. Similar I also think worried about carrying handloads or removing a magazine disconnect are paranoia caused by overactive minds of gun magazine writers. Ymmv.
I just don't drink. I received my CCW in November and since then I haven't had a drop to drink outside of my own home because I carry a weapon.
When you have a concealed weapon on you, you not only represent yourself & your preparedness, you represent gun owners everywhere.
Do the smart thing, and the responsible thing, and DO NOT carry when you're going to be out consuming alcohol. Easy as that.
I drink in the confines of my home and friend's homes, and avoid bars & such, because I wish to carry my weapon, and prove that we're not all out "looking for a fight" (not saying that anyone is, but that is what it will be misconstrued as in the eyes of the public).
I feel like you, but I understand their POV too. I take it on a case by case basis.. depending on where I go out. I'm never too shitfaced to operate the vehicle or the weapon (ie, never more than two). I usually leave the M40 in the Jeep, which I'm never ever more than 50 feet from.
I just hate to see the zero tolerance. no thinking or analysis thing take over people's thought processes. If you're irresponsible when you have a beer, will be getting drunk, or just don't like the legal liability of having a beer with dinner while carrying then dont. Don't get your panties in a bunch when I have a beer with dinner while I'm carrying though.
Of course I've also got a horizontal shoulder holster on order which would make some people wet their pants.
when i carry and i go out to chili's, outback wherever i usually have a beer with dinner..you better believe that i'll still be carrying..if someone will lose control after ONE beer, they need to not drink ever.
I agree, I'm not really a drinker anymore. I almost always carry, anytime I'm going out to eat I carry now most of the time I dont bother having any alcohol with my food but sometimes if we goto Fridays or something it turns out to be 2 for 1 drafts I may have a couple beers with my dinner.
And thats all it was, a couple of drinks (3) and some dumb ass drunk guy was trying to pick a fight with me. He grabbed for my gun, I pushed him away, he punched me in the eye, and I left.
