So I'm looking at both, extremely similar sans the price difference of about $180-$200. Both feel great in my hand, just curious to see what everyone would pic. In order to entertain those which look at aesthetics, pics are below.

To purchase, just as a handgun for shooting at the range.

HK for the ridiculously large slide catch lever.

Which trigger systems are you looking at on each gun? The P2000 has DA/SA or LEM (HK's modified DAO) and the Walther has a DA/SA and then a Glock-like striker DAO system.

I'd take the Walther myself...... But neither make me crazy giddy.

The DA pull on the P2000 is like a mile long, it really sucks.

For the Walther either the QA or AS, for the H&K the DA/SA.

In that case get the Walther P99QA. I liked shooting my buddies a LOT more than I liked shooting the P2000 with the DA/SA.

$850 allows you to buy just about any pistol on the market today aside from the top HKs, Sigs, and nice 1911's. You could probably swing a HK P30 from CDNN which is a VERY nice pistol that improved greatly on the ergonomics of the USP/P2000.

what are you going to do with it?

  14. I'm a Glock whore, so my vote would be a G34 if he wants something 9mm. Neither of the 2 he posted make me happy in my pants.

I enjoyed shooting Glock's although they don't fit my hand that well. I think I'll eventually pick one up just to have one though.

Personally, I'd much rather have a tricked out cz/glock/mp/XDm than any of those mentioned. And I've owned both......

Any particular reasons you didn't like both? Just trying to establish the issues people encounter with them, be it either mechanical issues or personal preference issues.

There's nothing "wrong" with them. Both will shoot, and both have people who buy them and like them.

People buy guns for a variety of reasons: I buy guns to maximize my performance (fun) for my dollar, as it's a finite resource. I felt that neither of these (to be fair, I haven't shot the P2000's, only the USP series, and am thus referring to them) really accomplished that. I thought the ergos of the Walther were good, but the trigger was strange. I thought the triggers on the HKs just plain sucked, and didn't care for the ergos. I'm used to tradiontal places mag releases, and found the mag release on both of these pistols harder for me to manipulate (though several people think it's the hot shit). I shoot other guns better, with less work frankly - which makes me happier.

Niether of these guns are cheap.... Buying smart, I could build a sick CZ (with extra mags and a holster), or a sick glock, or a cool XDm, or a cool M&P. Any of these interest me MUCH more than the factory pistols you have listed FWIW.

of those two probably the Walther, but just because they seem to make guns that fit my hand better.

I loved my p2k. Only reason I sold it was to buy the hk45c. I don't mind the long DA pull. Made me feel more comfortable about carrying with one in the chamber and no safety
