Used to do Arnold's advanced I routine that had me going to the gym twice a day, a few times a week. Loved it for about a month and a half and got some really nice gains. Then i started pulling muscles and whatnot. I suppose if it was a more mild routine, it wouldn't have been a problem. My buddy works out twice a day sometimes and is progressing quite well.

If you can seriously lift 2x a day you're not working hard enough the first time :p

I duno about that statement. If your working 2 different parts of your body, its not gonna matter. I did back/bi's earlier and legs just now. Im sore all over.

Yeah you're Arnold and should train exactly like him, you'll be Mr Olympia in no time.

well i used to go twice a day, once in the morning for straight cardio, and then once more for lifting in the afternoon. but i did that becasue of time constraints, nowadays i go once a spend a couple of hours in the gym. if you are going twice to lift, as cavefish said you probably aren't working hard enough the first time.

no one can tell you how you would feel working out two times a day.
try it and it feel like you're getting a good workout, go ahead and continue.

in arnolds 2 a day split it's not like he went in and did 5x5 squats in the morning, and then went back at night and did 5x5 deadlifts. first of all, it was high rep schemes and it would be like some upper muscle groups in morning and legs at night or something.

doing 10-12 reps of isolation exercises for 5-6 sets doesn't take quite as much out of you as heavy compound lifts, but they do take alot of time, hence his two a day.

twice cause you need to do cardio in the morn then lift later is ok by me but two full workouts is too much and there is really no reason for it.

there are various training programs that incorporate 2 workouts per day, some that involve training the same bodypart.

some of the bulgarian powerlifting regimins involve 5 workouts per day, albeit they are 5 single near max lifts.

Statement is false! There are more ways than you know apparently to gain and do split routines. This is a spin-off from an earlier post about twice a day.

the statement would be true for most people; unfortunately it's a blanket statement, so it's false :)

I'm well aware of plenty of routines that involve multiple sessions per day. Perhaps I wasn't specific enough.
