    I caught the 10/22 bug.

I'm ordering this stock in OD green

Mueller APV scope, and a TacSol 16.5" threaded barrel in black. Waiting for the attorney to finish off the work on my family trust and then I'll be picking up a Gemtech Outback II.

I just upgraded some more internals to mine this weeked. VQ extractor and PC titanium firing pin. You have to get a VQ hammer to start out at least.

Oh and suppressed .22 is :wackit:

I like the Anschutz stocks for 10/22's. Nicely done.

Have you any experience with the Tac-Sol barrels? You might want to read around about them if you are looking for a tack-driver out of your 10/22. They use a "sporter" chamber, which many claim is the reason for their (in)accuracy compared to other models. I had one, and wasn't hugely impressed with it (I now have a GM on that gun), though they do make running a can easy.

    Just food for thought.

Oh yeah, buffer is a must. Poly buffers should be standard equipment from Ruger.

I'd personally (and have), go GM. Getting a barrel threaded for a 'can is no biggie.

20" is long and heavy. If you are just wanting to shoot your gun off a bench, then go for it; otherwise you might wanna go shorter (say 16.5"). I've gone that route too, and hated it.

FWIW, here's one of my favorite blueprints with that stock:

I've been really eying one of these lately....

    http://shootersdiscount.com/cart/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=1168

I've had excellent luck with Skeeters stuff, and this thing looks killer. I'm thinking it would balance out a Hogue perfectly, though would probably be too light for anything much heavier.

But if you are wanting a bench gun, GM did a run of 32"(I think) barrels for 10/22's...

I'd be making this gun my walking around, squirrel/varmint gun, so a lightweight set-up is what I'm going for. What did your gun weight with the 20" GM

The TacSol barrel is a great choice then. It's a lot lighter than the factory carbine barrel and really helps to balance out the gun. I love mine.

16" fluted, though if you are running the Anschutz stock, you might be able to balance a 18" fluted (though it would weigh a few more ounces).

I never weighed my 10/22's, but it wasn't the overall weight that was such a huge bitch (though it didn't help), it was the balance. An unfluted 20" tube weighs ~3.5lbs. My GM heavy sporter weighs about ~2.1 pounds, and a 16" fluted ~2.5lbs. Doesn't seem like much, but it can really make the difference between a rifle that can be carried and shot offhand, and one that is strictly bench only. My 20" guns grew largely worthless to me, as they became niche tools.

You won't gain any extra velocity with the long tube, and a 22RF doesn't generate much heat, so I can't fathom a real good reason to do the heavier/longer tubes, unless you were trying to balance a REALLY heavy stock.

i believe it is 18. i don't have a yard stick or a rule handy. i held it up to one of my AR carbines and it looks about 2 inches longer.
